A Review of the Chrome Extension with a 3.99 Rating

Introduction

Are you tired of dealing with annoying cookie pop-ups and concerns about your online privacy ? Look no further than this highly-rated Chrome extension that has garnered an impressive rating of 3.99 out of 5. In this article, we will explore the outstanding features of this extension, delve into user feedback, and discuss why it is highly regarded by users.

One of the standout features of this extension is its ability to automatically handle consent pop-ups for you. Designed to combat the deliberate confusion behind cookie pop-ups, this extension saves you the trouble of manually refusing or accepting tracking cookies. By setting your preferences once, you can rest assured that the technology will take care of the rest, ensuring your privacy remains intact.

User Reviews

Let's take a look at what users have to say about this extension:

  • Tobias Poulsen: "Has saved me 7500 clicks so far. When I stumble upon a website that it doesn't handle, I report it easily, and then it usually works later if I check in incognito."
  • Rainbow Warrior Princess: "Doesn't work on all sites, for example: https://storececotec.de. Also doesn't close the ' Privacy Manager' popup after closing the cookie consent popup on pcwelt.de."
  • Yuki Kart: "Switching on GitHub breaks the pages."
  • Matej Blaha: "I would say it works on around half of the websites, but that still saves me a lot of time and my privacy . On the websites where it does work, it seems to automatically opt out of the legitimate interest, too."
  • Albert Sáfrán: "Wow. Websites are just loading, browsing is just happens, cookie pop-ups are simply missing as this peaceful and quick experience was natural. I feel back in the old days, I've got used to it very quickly. :D"
  • Atheophanous2: "Doesn't work on many sites and slow on those that it does."
  • Michael Swanson: "Although not perfect, at present it has reduced 99% of the irritation associated with trying to refuse cookie permissions from sites that are not compliant with GDPR. Having a background automated process to respond to cookie settings is fantastic."
  • Jon N: "Overall works well, it just misses some cookie prompts, like Reddit, and Google's own proprietary cookie prompt that apparently nobody can remove, thus I give it 4 stars."
  • P L: "First free option that has worked on most sites for me. Love it!"
  • konda62: "Seems to work really well."

Strengths and Weaknesses

Based on the user reviews, it is clear that this extension offers significant advantages, such as saving time, enhancing privacy , and removing the hassle of manually handling cookie pop-ups. Users appreciate the convenience and effectiveness of the extension in reducing the irritation associated with non-compliant GDPR sites. However, there are also some concerns about its compatibility with certain websites, occasional slow performance, and missed cookie prompts on popular platforms like Reddit and Google.

Developers and Privacy Advocacy

This extension is built and maintained by the dedicated team at Aarhus University in Denmark, consisting of privacy researchers who are committed to protecting online privacy . They developed this add-on out of frustration with companies violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). By offering this extension for free, they aim to assist in enforcing the GDPR, as the organizations responsible for enforcement often lack sufficient resources.

Conclusion

Despite some limitations, this Chrome extension has undoubtedly proven itself as a valuable tool for enhancing online privacy and simplifying the management of cookie pop-ups. With its automated consent handling and dedication to privacy advocacy, it has earned a commendable rating of 3.99 out of 5. If you are concerned about data protection, online security, and the hassle of dealing with cookie pop-ups, we highly recommend giving this extension a try.

Very good.

Really cool extension! However, it has to be a frequently used cookie consent form service(CMPs) to be used. - Niche website or a website with their own cookie consent form will not work with this app. + Works with some of the popular cookie consent services(CMPs). Recommend to keep it installed just in case when this extension is able to work. to dev: please increase the ammount of cookie consent service and possibly microsoft's cookie consent or other services like google. Thanks! keep the good work up! The list of CMPs supported. The list from the github repo: Compatible CMPs Consent-O-Matic currently works with these CMPs: Autodesk begadi.com chandago consentmanager.net cookiebar cookiebot cookiecontrolcivic cookieinformation cookieLab didomi.io dr.dk DPG Media EvidonBanner EvidonIFrame ez-cookie future ikeaToast lemonde.fr oil onetrust optanon optanon-alternative quantcast quantcast2 SFR sharethis sourcepoint sourcepointframe sourcepointpopup springer tealium.com theGuardian trustarcbar trustarcframe umf.dk uniconsent Webedia wordpressgdpr

Yeah... not impressed. Barely seems to work half the time; and on top of that, my desktop has shown significant slowdown since installing... personally, reckon I was better off just paying for adblock premium. Long story short - if you want a more effective cookie blocker, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Amazing stuff when works

Eli Porter

It doesn't work all the time; but when it does work, it works well.

Kris Pucci

Picked 3 random websites from the UK and none of them seemed to be registered by the extension. Not sure if I am using it wrong?

Yurii Yermakov

Something from my sweetest dreams.

I visited www.coches.net. It detects the cookie pop-up, it handles it...and THEN it forcefully takes me to the main page. This means it is impossible to browse the website.

Great extension that basically does the clicking for you in the background based on your preference. Can be disabled if it doesn't work on a specific site. Simply submit the site and help improve the extension. Open source so secure and transparent!

These kind of extensions are never going to be perfect, but if you read the description and follow the developers request to submit a site that doesn't work maybe we'll have more sites that work with this than do not. Don't be like basic girl below and simply regurgitate nonsense after testing it for a extremely brief period of time.

V Rozsypal (Willem)

Works.

Basic Girl

Just got it, just tested it: Does not work on sites like Loft and American Eagle.

Luc

Good job!!!

Adam Horowski

Finally. Goodbye, pop-ups.

Prachi K

Thank you!

Maximilian Baumgart

This is amazing, I always wished for an extension like this and you guys made it. Thank you!

Michael Erard

works, but it appears to mess with the backend of websites too. I couldn't change any content on my website when this was active.

Leonardo Luiz

Noble attempt, but unfortunately there are so many types of cookie designs that there's no one solution fits all.

Fish Liu

works

Tim Heymans

I want to love this extension, but in my experience it doesn't work on most websites. :( I'm using "I Still Don't Care About Cookies" instead: less options, but it works flawlessly. Hope to see this one improve though, maybe I'll come back.
